MAYER AREA MEALS ON WHEELS MISSION STATEMENT MAMOW operates as a not-for-profit organization whose mission it is to provide nutritious meals both home-delivered and in our dining room, and transportation to area residents to support quality of life in our community. |
MAYER AREA MEALS ON WHEELS IN 2011 I gave out some numbers at the last Mayer Elders Club Membership meeting on January 26th that are worth repeating. In 2011, our Meals on Wheels served 19,800 home delivered meals, 6,833 meals in the dining room, 6,372 breakfasts to the Charter School, 6,564 lunches to the Charter School for a total of 39,569 meals served. We’ve also made 1,032 trips in the van. This has been done with 4 cooks, 1 van driver, our welcoming hostesses in the dining room and our volunteer drivers, and of course Virginia Tallent as Assistant Director and myself. In December we served 663 meals in the dining room and NACOG will pay for 313; home delivered meals were 1,585 and NACOG will pay for 526. This is why Roxanne Menzies , NACOG Case Manager, urges each of you to contribute as you can. We’ve also taken a loss in 2011 because of equipment repair, some building maintenance, office equipment and the fact that the Charter School’s enrollment was not as great as the year before. Hopefully all our repairs have been made. With the economy as it is, our fundraising/donations have not been as great either. Mary Yorgensen, Director |
